coool

happy and hyper without being dance is always nice for the audio portal.

and i feel like the second tiem the melody is repeated it should be developed a little. Otherwise this is lovely. Keep up the work!

hmm

its okay
I felt the synths you chose had no real power to them
The composition itself is fine, but the synths leave it sounding vastly underpowerful.

ONESTEPAHEAD responds:

I VALUE YOUR OPION BUT I THOUGHT MY SYNTH WERE VERY POWERFULL, BUT IM GLAD YOU LEFT A RESPONSE

15 minutes?

no way... that seems way too short.
I love the mood this sets, uncomfortable, yet relaxing, nothing too overpowering, yet listenable as a song, very well balanced.
I do really like this, and as far as what it's trying to acheive i think its close enough to perfect.
Erm, I'll try and put something to improve on, just so this review isn't just a waste of time.
I guess my only thing to say is to try and elicit a certain emotion in your music, rather than just having a song, make it tell a story (as cheesey and ridiculous as it sounds). Thanks for submitting, i really enjoyed this.

tijnn responds:

Haha i normally do that, but this was sériously just random noises i made in a certain tone with my guitar, if you listen to my other ambient you can get the idea you were asking for.

Thanks for the review though! i'm astonished this is not getting 0'd by noise-haters right away, but yeah, really, thanks for letting me know what you think of it!

BTW: About the 15 minutes, i made it in fruity loops in 15 minutes, but i recorded an hour of random noises with the guitar a few days back, which i used here, so it's not totally true. ;)

ooooh

I really like the high harmonising 'beep' sound.
the melody voice was weaker in the softer part, i felt it didn't have enough clarity in that part to carry the melody if that makes sense, i felt the notes needed to be more definate, ratehr than blending a bit.
And i really am not keen on fade outs, but it sounded especially forced in this as the song didn't feel ready to finish in my eyes.
So my main criticism is that the song feels like it has more to give and should be longer, otherwise a very solid and listenable song. Well done.

sumguy720 responds:

Yeah I agree. I forced the ending quite intensely and I'll definitely go back to it sometime and put something a little more decent in there. I was surprised at how it came together. I just listened to each part and kind of wrote what sounded like should be there, the beep sound really was a stroke of pure luck, and I'm glad you like it. As far as the melody voice int eh softer part-- I don't see exactly what you mean, but I can see where the melody might get a little lost in the middle-- so I'll work on that too.
Thanks for the review! Much obliged.

mmm

This isn't bad, i think the bass and kick drum are just the right powerfulness.
The song is good, i liked the 'through a telephone' (To put it as the reviewer below did) sound at the start it gave it a real sense of power when it really came in.
The melody voice really was a lovely choice.
Something holds me back from rating this a 9 or 10 though. I just feel like somewhere, it 's missing something. I just can't put my figner on it, i'll relisten again sometime and PM you if it hits me.
Keep up the good work!

SigmaSpore responds:

lol actually a through the telephone is the perfect way to describe it, thats the EQ preset that i used, telephone xD

i actually think the kicks should be more powerful but thats just me

im happy with 8's

thx for review peace out

wow

a real sense of building throughout it, which is excellent, though may have to be edited if used in flash movies so bits came in the right places to fit the mood.
It's got a good general feel to it, the string soudns aren't bad either if they're from fruity loops! I'm not sure i like how it ends particularly, it sounds a little abrupt. Maybe just add a definate ending, or make it loop. Otherwise a nice song.
One thing i just noticed was the sudden loss of texture when the high melody comes in, maybe keep a few more soudns going?
Great song mate, good luck in the future.

Ritheguardian responds:

Thanks, hopefully one of my pieces would eventually be used in flash, but i don't really mind, i enjoi making music, but i will take you advise, i was working on editing this song, making it long and adding more beats and a bigger build up :) and of course a better end

it felt out of time

which means its doesn't blend into the background very well and it isn't particularly ambient.
I'm not keen on the voices either, thats just ersonal taste, so sorry but yeah.
The things coming in and out so often made it a little too jumpy. The wah sound was a little too harsh i beleive.
i liked the snaps and tings, made me think of a clock. A nice idea for this song might be to consider taking some things that sound everyday,, eg a clock then building the song up aroudn that, adding more and more layers. It would improve the sogn greatly in my view if it slowly built up rtaher than jumped through textures. Its not a bad effort, i just don't think its particularly fanatastic either. Kepp trying though man.

rafael3 responds:

good! a review! thanks for the tips, i am not having much time to make musics and learn all the stuffs of fruity loops, be sure i'll keep trying ;)

What's NES Chiptune?

But still. I like the arpeggio's at the start. When the harmony comes in thats lovely (1:02).
I think the actual chip sound is a little too smooth and not 'raw' enough to give the melody enough power.
the sound at 1:15 is much nicer, though still a little off, maybe a little too brash
The string souns in the background are nice. Add a little more texture.
Overall it's not bad, despite what the reviewer underneath might state <_<
If you get a chance please check out 'chipbare' by me, something i tried in this sort of style.
Oh and last thing, any chance of adding more drum layers? I know its not exactly true to 8-bit, but i just think it sounds much more powerful!
So yeah, good song, well arranged, mayeb tinker with the voice sounds a little?
Good luck in the future!

Martham112 responds:

Thanks for the good comments!

I was thinking about having a drum type layer, but I can't make drums sound slightly orchestral rather than rock or trance types as they always come out with. And I don't want to make remixes like that. They've been done a lot, especially on here.

love the accordian

and the xylophone/glockenspiel sound near the start.
I like the way how it feels real, yet very detatched from the world at the same time.
And you can only feel the full extent of your newer one thats paired with thios by listening to this first, otherwise the other sounds almost pointlessly depressive (can't think of the right way to express that sorry). But this is lovely. Keep it up!

nice

but blends a bit too much, some bits don't stand out enough, in general it has a nice sound, i like the upbeat tempo and feel. It just needs a real catchy melody and a bit more rhythmic variety. Keep it up, i'd like to hear more.

Please rate my songs, I'm new to dance music and some crit would be lovely. I'm also rubbish at naming them, so new name suggestions would be great. =)
